The ANSI-approved NENA Standard for the Conveyance of Emergency Incident Data Objects (EIDOs) between Next Generation (NG9-1-1) Systems and Applications defines the specifications and other information needed for application developers to build interfaces to send and receive EIDOs from their applications to other vendor applications, enabling data exchange interoperability between i3-compliant PSAPs and their associated response agencies and other entities. The standard describes a transport model for the secure, verified, and reliable delivery of EIDOs, both during the processing of emergency calls and thereafter. Thank you to the EIDO Conveyance Working Group members for committing their time and expertise to establishing this standard. The NENA Information Document for GIS Data Stewardship for Next Generation 9-1-1 will assist Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) staff in understanding and adopting best practices related to managing specific GIS data layers in support of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) deployments. Washington Briefing
NENA: The 9-1-1 Association (NENA) salutes the March 24 introduction of the Next Generation 9-1-1 Act of 2023, by U.S. Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Richard Hudson (R-NC). This bipartisan legislation would provide up to $15 billion to help states and localities accelerate the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) transition. NG9-1-1 provides multimedia capabilities, enables broadband applications, and ensures system resiliency that most current 9-1-1 systems lack. Without the funding from this bill, the nation will continue to have NG9-1-1 "haves" and "have-nots," putting lives at unnecessary risk. The NG9-1-1 Act of 2023 must pass the U.S. Congress this year to ensure this critical upgrade is available for all Americans. Click here to read more. Volunteers Wanted
