The AMC Golf Classic was held on Monday, June 13. Numbers were down a bit from last year, and in response to your feedback about timing, we have already booked a noon start for 2012. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us; it only helps to make things better. We're very grateful for the support of our golf tournament sponsors and for the generous donation of prizes from many of our member companies. Meet our sponsors and the tournament champions here.

Mark your calendars for June 18 and 19, 2012, when the 42nd annual AMC Convention and Trade Show and AMC Classic Golf Tournament will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan. We are busy making plans to tailor the 2012 convention around your needs. Stay tuned for exciting changes to the convention format that will help you make the most of this busy week of commerce and networking.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Effective July 1, 2011:

The following changes will come into effect and will create a special category of regulations for transporting farm equipment. The changes include:

  • Increased width (to 16.8' or 16' 10") for loaded or towed farm equipment before a pilot vehicle is needed (daytime travel).
  • The removal of the requirement for a second pilot vehicle if an implement crosses the centre line of a highway.
  • Changes to night time travel restrictions that allow some movement of equipment at night.

See attached documents for more information about the new regulations. Please print and distribute these documents within your dealership so your trucking personnel are apprised of the change. The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) office is aware and ready to issue the permits as needed. The permit office number is 306-775-6969 (from outside of Saskatchewan) and 1-800-667-7575 (from within Saskatchewan).

COMING EVENTS

AgriTechnia 2011 will be held in November in Hanover, Germany. These numbers represent an increase of about 10 percent compared with the last show. Exhibitor areas have increased mainly in core agri-machinery sectors for example: tractors, harvesters and soil preparation.

To cater to this demand, DLG, the organizer for Agritechnica, will open up six more halls bringing the total number to 24 and increasing exhibitor space by 15 percent. Having a visitor-friendly structure is crucial in view of this expansion and attendees can expect an even more efficient layout to guide them to their key areas of interest.

Agritechnica will open its doors from 15 to 19 November 2011 at the Hanover Exhibition Grounds, with preview days on 13 and 14 November. The last Agritechnica in 2009 was attended by 2,300 exhibitors from 46 countries. More than 355,000 visitors, including 80,000 international attendees, descended on Hanover to learn more about new developments in agricultural equipment and machinery.

Are you looking for convenient accommodation in Hanover? Please get in touch with MagriM, Mark Krijinse Locker. Furthermore, MagriM offers a travel package for Canadians including 3 days at Agritechnica, a visit to the Claas plant and a sightseeing day in Berlin, one of the world's most vibrant and historic places (options to extend).

Further information on Agritechnica 2011 and/or the travel package is available from Annette Reichhold; email: a.reichhold@dig.org or go to www.agritechnica.com.
