Important Changes to Transporting Farm Equipment in Saskatchewan

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Effective July 1, 2011:

The following changes will come into effect and will create a special category of regulations for transporting farm equipment. The changes include:

  • Increased width (to 16.8' or 16' 10") for loaded or towed farm equipment before a pilot vehicle is needed (daytime travel).
  • The removal of the requirement for a second pilot vehicle if an implement crosses the centre line of a highway.
  • Changes to night time travel restrictions that allow some movement of equipment at night.

See attached documents for more information about the new regulations. Please print and distribute these documents within your dealership so your trucking personnel are apprised of the change. The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) office is aware and ready to issue the permits as needed. The permit office number is 306-775-6969 (from outside of Saskatchewan) and 1-800-667-7575 (from within Saskatchewan).
