On November 20, 2021, WCO will live stream a variety of lectures for practicing clinicians and optometric educators across all time zones for a full day of continuing education. In 2020, Dr. Michael Sellers and his wife Elizabeth made a donation to Marshall B. Ketchum University of $1 million, an extraordinary gift that is in many ways a measure of his pride in the education he received at MBKU, his appreciation for what the profession of optometry has afforded him, and his desire to give future optometrists support that can change their lives.
 
Candice Turner, OD, discovered her passion for teaching while working with fourth year optometry students during her career in private practice. She ultimately changed paths and became a full-time educator. Her decision has been rewarding. Turner received the 2021 UAB President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
 
After a long and successful career in optometry, I. William Collins, OD ‘47, wants to help ensure future optometrists trained at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University (PCO) have a leg up as they pursue that same level of success.
 
After earning a degree in chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana, Chicago native Alethia Love Harris, OD ‘21, ’22 Resident, scheduled interviews with optometry schools in all regions of the country.
 
After being deferred nearly a year and half because of COVID-19, Southern College of Optometry formally welcomed the Class of 2020 back to Memphis for its official commencement ceremony. Held during the college’s Fall Homecoming and CE Weekend, the ceremony brought nearly 100 members of the 135 graduates in cap and gown to the Peabody Hotel.
