From now through October 31, NENA is accepting session proposals for the NENA 2025 Conference & Expo taking place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA from June 21-26. Presenting a session at NENA 2025 allows you to share your knowledge and experience with an audience of 9-1-1 professionals eager to gain and share information. The NG9-1-1 Interoperability Oversight Commission (NIOC) is pleased to announce a revised implementation strategy and lower annual subscription fees for the NG9-1-1 Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). This updated approach extends customizable implementation options for 9-1-1 Authorities, Next Generation Core Service Providers, Governmental, and Commercial entities involved in emergency call handling. PKI is the critical component that enables trusted communications among NG9-1-1 systems and jurisdictions. It is a comprehensive framework that contains the set of roles, policies, and procedures needed to manage, distribute, create, store, and use and revoke digital certificates. Digital certificates are essential for establishing trusted communications among 9-1-1 entities by verifying identity and providing secure data transmission. Click here to read more. ![]() Understanding the FCC’s NG9-1-1 Report & Order The FCC's landmark NG9-1-1 order this summer, which came into effect in November, sets timelines for Originating Service Providers (OSPs) to deliver NG9-1-1 calls. No longer voluntary, large carriers have six months to connect with SIP upon receiving a valid request for service, and six months to deliver NG9-1-1 traffic after receiving a second request. Smaller carriers have twelve each. This webinar breaks down the legal requirements of the orders, the capabilities that 9-1-1 authorities have to make requests, and the resources available to them. NENA’s Board of Directors leads the organization’s more than 22,000 members in advancing NENA’s mission to improve 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy. Through its leadership, the board ensures that the needs of the association and its members are being met today and that NENA is well-positioned for the future. As a board member, you will fulfill essential responsibilities outlined in NENA’s bylaws, help guide NENA’s strategic vision, and ensure the association continues to provide the highest level of support and service to its members. This is your opportunity to provide the leadership needed to ensure NENA’s continued growth and success. This election will be for the following positions:
NENA seeks qualified candidates to serve as the Committee Resource Coordinator to assist in the support of the NENA Development Group efforts. The Committee Resource Coordinator will be responsible for the administration of one or more NENA Standards and Best Practices Development workgroup activities. The position supports NENA’s status as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Standards Development Organization (SDO) by ensuring all processes are followed to secure approval of any ANSI-candidate standards document. Click here to learn more and apply. ![]() The NENA NG9-1-1 Operational Diversity and Redundancy Information Document provides guidelines and best practices to implement and maintain high-availability NG9-1-1 systems using diversity and redundancy. Members of the Working Group are to download the document and submit comments by going here and then selecting Add a Comment from the Edit icon drop-down menu. All others are to download the document and submit comments by going here and then selecting Add a Comment from the Document Actions icon drop-down menu. Please complete all requested data and click Save or, if submitting multiple comments, select Save and Add Another. As part of the reaffirmation process, the document numbers were updated to reflect the current numbering system. Reaffirmation of NENA’s documents is an important verification that the information provided by NENA is accurate, current, and inclusive of recent technology and processes to best support the 9-1-1 industry. ![]() NENA seeks volunteers to support the update of the NENA Legacy Selective Router Gateway (LSRG) Standard. This activity, which will take place in the i3 Architecture Working Group, will involve updating the current standard to clarify: the generation and handling of Additional Data/EIDOs; the handling of 9-1-1 calls from non-initialized mobile devices; and transfers involving legacy PSAPs that are served by legacy Selective Routers that interconnect with an i3 ESInets/NGCS via an LSRG. Additionally, the Working Group will address any gaps in the current standard, including those that may have been identified through implementation experience. The deliverable is intended to be an ANSI-approved standard. To support this effort, the Working Group seeks technical and operational participants of the User, Producer, and General Interest categories with expertise in the areas of:

NENA seeks volunteers for the NENA Daily Personnel Operations Working Group to shepherd the draft of NENA Standard for Communications Center/PSAP Daily Personnel Operations through the document approval process. The working group has revised the current standard intended to provide recommendations to develop PSAP operational guidelines and schedules.The deliverable is intended to be an ANSI-approved standard. A variety of expertise is sought from the public safety and 9-1-1 industries as well as those with experience in communications center personnel operations. Specifically, the working group seeks to add members in the ‘Producer’ and ‘General Interest’ interest categories although we welcome all who want to participate. As defined in Section 3 Document Development Process of the NENA Development Operational Procedures, a Producer is a developer or provider of 9-1-1 related products or services, and a General Interest member is a member who does not fit into User or Producer, such as consultants or those who are part of state or federal agencies.
