Make plans to attend the Legislative Leadership Conference on October 11 - 13 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Glynn County. Counties will vote to approve the 2024 ACCG Policy Agenda and receive updates on legislative issues that impact local governments. More information will be available soon.
  
Registration for the upcoming policy committee meetings is now available. Get involved in ACCG's policy development process by attending the policy committee meetings and sharing the concerns your county is facing.
  
Registration is open for the 7th Annual ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation Golf Tournament! The tournament will be held at The Georgia Club in Barrow County on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Eligible members of the ACCG Workers’ Compensation Fund have until August 31 to apply for a 2023 Employee Safety Grant. The grant program was authorized by the ACCG Workers’ Compensation Board of Trustees in 2018 to provide financial assistance to program members for the purpose of reducing employees’ work-related injuries.
  
ACCG is proud to celebrate yet another positive renewal for the ACCG Workers' Compensation Fund (ACCG-GSIWCF). Since 1982, the ACCG-GSIWCF has provided a stable flow of workers' comepensation coverage to Georgia counties and authorities. During the summer, ACCG was excited to welcome three interns as they took on assignments with the governmental affairs, research, and legal departments. From updating guidebooks to collecting and analyzing survey data, the interns were a huge asset to the Association. Read further to learn more about their work.
  
The Law Enforcement Risk Specialist (LERS) training is dedicated to helping law enforcement leadership and command staff learn to effectively manage law enforcement risks. Sponsored by ACCG, GMA, and LGRMS, this training is imperative to helping agencies minimize risks associated with the day-to-day operations.
  
The sun is shining on Alison Etz and her summer internship with Cherokee County. Allison, a rising sophomore at the Georgia Institute of Technology, currently serves as the Community Development intern and works on projects in housing, planning, and zoning.

During the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) spring conference, nine county members were awarded certifications for completing the Level I Certification as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM) and the Level II Certification as an Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM).
  
The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) Law Enforcement Division has marked a notable milestone. Employees statewide have helped recover more than $1 million for landowners filing timber transaction complaints. 
  
The Council for Quality Growth is hosting the INTERSECTION Quality Development Conference on August 10, 2023. The INTERSECTION conference is a place where public policy and private investment meet to discuss metro Atlanta’s critical issues, hear best practices, and stay educated on topics as they relate to metro Atlanta’s ability to grow and prosper.
  
The Emergency Management Association of Georgia (EMAG) is now accepting applications for the 2023 EMAG Awards. Emergency Management agencies and their staff are eligible to apply until October 1, 2023.
