GLGPA Awards Certificates to Nine Georgia Counties

Recently the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) held their Spring Conference in Chatham County, Georgia. During the conference nine county members were awarded certifications for completing the Level I Certification as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM) and the Level II Certification as an Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM) through the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
 
During the conference employees from five county governments were awarded their Level I Certifications as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM).  To achieve the CHRM certification each person completed 13 classes and a self-directed learning project.

  • Melissa Darvish, Human Resources/Risk Management/Fleet & Safety Assistant Manager for the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority
  • Major Carissa McFaddin, Headquarters Bureau Commander for the Banks County Sheriff’s Office
  • Cristi Mege, Assistant Director, Community and Human Resources for the Coweta County Government
  • Tawanna Reese, Executive Assistant for the Sumter County Board of Commissioners Public Works Department
  • Tamara Woodie, Director of HR and Risk Management for the Henry County Water Authority

In addition to these recipients, employees from three county governments were awarded their Level II Certifications as Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM).  To achieve the ACHRM certification each person completed 48 hours of instruction in classes and the completion of a multi-rater assessment instrument (Gov360) that collects ratings on behavioral competencies from multiple observers.

  • Cherie Spillers, Human Resources Coordinator for the Upson County Board of Commissioners
  • Pamela Turner, Human Resources Clerk for the Ben Hill County Commissioners

The GLGPA certification programs are the only programs in the State of Georgia whereby local government employees may become certified in the Human Resources field.  The programs are sponsored by GLGPA in conjunction with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) and the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and are administered by The University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
