Deadline for 2024 Safety Discount Program - September 15, 2023

Safety doesn’t happen by accident. Being proactive about workplace safety means taking the time to identify and analyze hazards and to determine the best way to lessen the risks for accidents. Most accidents are preventable, and of those, most are due to unsafe/unhealthy acts or to a lesser degree, unsafe/unhealthy conditions. With that in mind, creating a safe and healthy workplace is key to reducing accidents and should be a year-round top priority for leadership and all involved.

The ACCG Workers’ Compensation and Property & Liability funds encourage Members in this effort by providing resources and financial incentives for doing so. Loss control resources are provided throughout the state through Local Government Risk Management Services (LGRMS) at no additional cost.  Members also can earn Safety Credits on their annual Contributions and also, in the case of Workers’ Compensation, Safety Grants.

LGRMS completed audits for the 2023 ACCG Safety Discount Program last October.  The Workers’ Compensation members that met the safety requirements received a 7.5% discount on their 2023 renewal contributions, saving them a total of $2.3 million.  Those members also then qualified for a portion of the $500,000 in 2023 Employee Safety Grants. Property & Liability Members that met the safety requirements received a 5% savings on their renewal Contributions for the coverage year beginning July 1, 2023, saving them a total of $2.4 million.

The requirements for the 2024 Safety Discount Program, including a new requirement for Law Enforcement Risk Specialist Training, are outlined in the Safety Discount Program Workbook, which was mailed out to each Member Insurance Contact and Safety Coordinator earlier this year.  Members must apply for the 2024 Safety Discount(s) by September 15, 2023. The workbook is also available online here and here
