The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance PAC actively engaged with both Republican and Democratic lawmakers this summer to advocate for sustainable transportation funding, preservation of Virginia’s Right-to-Work law, and opposition to mandated Project Labor Agreements. Through bipartisan dialogue, job site tours, and strategic planning, VTCA aims to strengthen infrastructure investment and workforce policies ahead of the 2026 General Assembly session.

As his term concludes, VTCA President Kip Addison reflects on a year marked by collaboration, growth, and industry progress. In his farewell message, Kip expresses deep gratitude to VTCA members, staff, and partners for their commitment to strengthening Virginia’s transportation and construction sectors. He leaves the role with pride in what’s been accomplished and confidence in the Association’s continued success in the years ahead.

The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) is pleased to announce the Fall 2025 Smoke Schools, providing essential visible emissions certification and recertification training for environmental professionals across the state.
Beginning on July 16, VAA and VTCA will host each of the six VA Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Regional Offices and the Central Office for workshops to educate DEQ staff about the asphalt and aggregate industries. The workshops will focus on the importance of the industries to their communities and the products and services they provide. The industries will go over the steps and efforts that are employed to meet and exceed the regulatory requirements.

VDOT's Local Assistance Division is thrilled to announce its first Virginia Locally Administered Projects (LAP) Awards Competition, celebrating the outstanding achievements and innovative projects undertaken by our local partners. This is your chance to showcase your hard work and be recognized for your dedication to improving transportation in your communities.
Last year, the Career and Technical Education department of Goochland High School celebrated the donation of a Caterpillar D3 Dozer from the Sargent Corporation to the heavy equipment operator program in the equipment bay at the CTE center. 
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will host a series of public meetings July 14-17 to gather feedback regarding potential improvements along Interstate 81 in Virginia. The in-person meetings are part of Round 2 (Potential Solutions) in the I-81 Corridor Improvement Plan (CIP). An online survey will also be available for the public to provide feedback.
Robert “Bob” Scott Jones, a respected figure in Virginia’s construction industry, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, just two days before his 74th birthday. Over the course of his career, Bob played a vital role in building and improving infrastructure throughout Southwest Virginia.
