VTCA’s Engineering Consultant Leadership Committee has named three new members to serve on the committee.
This summer, VTCA Aggregate Members will host four quarry tours for Virginia science teachers. The events are part of the Rockin’ PD Days designed for Virginia Association of Science Teachers (VAST) to obtain professional development credits while gaining professional earth science learning and resources.

According to MSHA, there have been 12 fatalities in the mining industry so far this year; six fatalities in January, two in February and four in March. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities in either April or May of this year. 
Last week, the Virginia Commonwealth Transportation Board heard a presentation about an adjustment to the state’s fiscal 2023–28 six-year improvement plan, setting aside a reserve fund of $129 million should forecast increases in maintenance costs the rest of the year come to fruition. 
ARTBA submitted May 17 comments to the U.S. Department of Labor opposing several provisions of its proposed expansion in Davis-Bacon coverage. 
Starting January 1, 2023, all construction contracts in Virginia will be subject to payment terms limiting the right of a party to only pay a lower-tier subcontractor upon receipt of payment from the owner or higher-tier contractor.
