VAMA | Blue Ridge held their annual Tammy Garrison Food drive, collecting food items and monetary donations totaling the equivalent of 2,227 lbs of food, which were donated to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. 
Calling all members! The National Apartment Association (NAA) is a member-focused organization, and because your ideas and actions matter, being involved in a committee is a great way to help shape the future of NAA. Applications for 2024 committee positions are open now through September 8th.

Development News
Developers broke ground in July on the 279-unit community near Rivanna Station. The project, named The Ridge at North Pointe, will consist of seven three-story buildings, a central clubhouse and pool, and will have 502 parking spaces and 14 electric vehicle charging stations. The project is scheduled to be complete in Q2 of 2024.

Breeden Construction is pleased to announce the successful completion of the $13 million multifamily development South First Street in Charlottesville, Virginia. Breeden Construction served as the general contractor for Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) on the brand new affordable community.

Capital Square Living, founded in late 2022, has assumed management of over 1,000 units between four communities. They are: Saltmeadow Bay Apartments in Virginia Beach, Sapphire at Centerpointe in Midlothian, Streets of Greenbrier Apartments in Chesapeake and Flats at West Broad Village in Glen Allen. The company plans to manage over 11,000 units by the summer of 2024.

Breeden Construction is proud to announce the completion of an affordable multifamily community in Newport News, Virginia, formally named Lift & Rise on Jefferson. The project was completed for the developers Newport News Redevelopment & Housing Authority (NNRHA) and Pennrose; Breeden Construction served as general contractor.

The $98 million project, along Arthur Ashe Blvd, will include an eight-story apartment building with 295 units, 13,000 square feet of commercial space, and a two-story parking deck. Construction is expected to begin this month and will last for two years.

The city of Richmond has approved plans for a nine-story, mixed-use development at the site of a crumbling parking deck at East Franklin and North 6th Streets. The new building will contain 181 apartments, 9,000 square feet of commercial space, a rooftop terrace, fire pit, gym and coworking space.

Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions is breaking ground on an on-campus student housing facility with roughly 1,200 beds. The $240 million project is expected to open in fall of 2025, and wiil feature geothermal heating and air conditioning in support of William & Mary's goal of becoming a carbon-neutral campus by 2030.
