PMPI is proud to announce Michele Woodward as the MACE! 2013 Keynote Presenter. Throughout her career, Michele has held the distinguished titles of White House Events Manager, Lead Press Advance in the Reagan White House, Senior Vice President, Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission, President, Author, Speaker and Teacher. In addition to Michele’s colored career, Michele is a Master Certified Coach who has coached executives across the U.S. and around the world, from Japan and Australia to Latin America and Europe. She trains and mentors other coaches and is considered a "coach’s coach."

Michele has graciously accepted the opportunity to present, Life After Meeting Planning: From The White House to Home Office, during the MACE! 2013 keynote program on February 6th. During her presentations, she will discuss some of the highlights and low points of her career, including working first hand with President Gerald Ford and President Ronald Reagan. Spring boarding off of her initial discussion, she will discuss strategies of how planners and suppliers can take what they are best at and re-weave it into becoming a new rock star. We hope you will be able to join us for this dynamic presentation.

Are you thinking about acquiring an industry designation and would like to speak with a fellow member who has gone through the process? Whether a CMP, CMM, CSEP or other, we have member volunteers willing to speak with you to share their personal experiences and help you learn which designation is the best fit for your career path.

Industry Designation "Human Resource" Program
PMPI has developed a program that will allow our members with industry designations to share their experiences and expertise with the future CMPs, CMMs, CEMs, CGMPs, etc., of tomorrow. In 2012, we are launching the first ever Industry Designation "Human Resource" Program. We will be using our greatest resource – experienced, working industry peers within PMPI – to help answer inquiries and provide direction, leadership, general knowledge and share personal experiences with those PMPI members interested in taking ownership of their own professional development by acquiring one or more of the various industry designations and/or certifications.

Below is a list of PMPI members willing to accept your outreach with questions regarding their particular designation and industry discipline and to act as a trusted counselor or supporter to guide you through the process. Who better to learn from than someone who has already gone through the process? Most communication will be via email, telephone and, to a lesser degree, in person if both parties so desire and are able to meet face-to-face.

Based on the amount of interest our designation volunteers receive on this initial program we may provide a more formalized program later down the road in which a mentor and mentee are identified and matched for a specified period of time.

Planners and suppliers often think they speak the same language, but two years of research has proven quite the opposite to Shawna Suckow, CMP, author of the book Planner Pet Peeves and the follow-up book, Supplier Pet Peeves (published in January 2013).

Planners are people-pleasers by nature, and may not always be forthcoming if relationships can be damaged. Suppliers want to put their best products and services forward, but they most often are left to guess at what the market really wants and expects from them.

Then there’s the trend of planners not answering the phone, not responding to emails, and generally making it harder for suppliers to build relationships. Join Shawna as she pulls back the curtain and shares what each side is thinking and doing—and how it is interpreted by the other—in a funny but impactful look at how we all can do better and drive each other a little less crazy.
