NRMCA Associate member CarbonCure Technologies was recently profiled in a news article from the Reuters news service titled U.S. Lawmakers Take a Concrete Step to Battle Emissions. The article includes news that Hawaii's Department of Transportation will use carbon-injected concrete on concrete products; a government official states this allows for less cement to be used in mixes.  NRMCA encourages today’s rising stars to apply for a unique opportunity that will support personal career growth in the ready mixed concrete industry. The mission of the Developing Industry’s Leaders (DIL) program is to create a unique setting for tomorrow’s leaders to interact, both professionally and socially, with more established professionals while providing responsible leadership and transferable knowledge about the ready mixed concrete industry over a long period. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the program boasts just under 200 alumni.

NRMCA’s Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards competition offers producers national recognition for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound management practice in their operations. The program salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance measures and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment. NRMCA member companies producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada is eligible to enter. Awards will be determined upon individual plant merits. Winning entrants will be honored at the Awards Luncheon at NRMCA‘s ConcreteWorks this October in Washington, DC. Winners will also be featured in a 2019 edition of NRMCA’s Concrete InFocus magazine and Concrete Products magazine.

The following topics in the popular NRMCA Concrete in Practice (CIP) publications have been updated.

• CIP 13 – Blisters on Concrete Slabs

• CIP 21 – Loss of Air Content in Pumped Concrete

• CIP 22 – Grout

• CIP 23 – Discoloration

• CIP 39 – Maturity Methods to Estimate Concrete Strength

• CIP 40 – Aggregate Popouts

• CIP 41 – Acceptance Testing of Concrete

Revisions to CIPs are facilitated by the NRMCA Research Engineering and Standards (RES) Committee to ensure that current information is covered. CIPs are used by concrete producers as educational material to distribute to users, contractors and other interested parties. They are written in a “What? Why? How?” format.

CIPs are available in sets of individual topics, collated sets and special series sets. Topics can be viewed and purchased here. For more information, contact Jacques Jenkins at jjenkins@nrmca.org or 240-485-1165.
