NRMCA encourages today’s rising stars to apply for a unique opportunity that will support personal career growth in the ready mixed concrete industry. The mission of the Developing Industry’s Leaders (DIL) program is to create a unique setting for tomorrow’s leaders to interact, both professionally and socially, with more established professionals while providing responsible leadership and transferable knowledge about the ready mixed concrete industry over a long period. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the program boasts just under 200 alumni.

Once selected, the 2019 cohort group will prepare for their attendance at NRMCA’s Fall Conference, ConcreteWorks and Mixer Driver Championship in Kissimmee, FL, October 3 - 7. DILs start with a half-day workshop where they will also be placed in their small working research team. Over the fall and winter, the team works on its issue under the guidance of senior NRMCA staff. At the March 6 - 9, 2020 NRMCA Convention in Las Vegas, it will present findings to its sponsoring committee. Once done, individuals are asked to make a long-term commitment to move the team’s initiative(s) forward by joining, and attending, the appropriate NRMCA committee meeting twice a year as well as participate in annual DIL alumni events. Additionally, they may attend NRMCA’s semi-annual Board Meetings to watch senior level executives deliberate and make both short- and long-term strategic decisions that impact the industry.

Finally, current and alumni DILs are invited to attend the annual Spring North American Concrete Alliance Fly-In held in Washington, DC. The two-day event pulls together a coalition of 12 concrete-related associations for the purpose of addressing industry-wide concerns & initiatives in the areas of research, safety, education and government affairs. While in town, groups travel to Capitol Hill to meet with their representatives to discuss the impact of legislative actions on the business.

Please note, the DIL program is a long-term commitment. After the two-year formal period ends, DIL alumni are expected to mentor other DILs as well as participate in industry events.

If your company has a rising star whose career is ready to work on a national level and will be given the time to participate in the required activities, please submit his/her application no later than Friday, August 9.
