Association & Industry News
For the better part of a year, the NRMCA Member and Staff leadership have gathered insights and input of its members, industry experts and other key stakeholders on what lies ahead for the industry and Association. NRMCA validated the Mission, Vision and Values of the Association; identified current and future industry trends; and explored the products and services members desire from the Association. Ultimately, the NRMCA Strategic Plan Development team identified a draft set of key goals and objectives designed to further the success of our industry and NRMCA members: the NRMCA Strategic Plan, 2026 - 2029.

The estimated ready mixed concrete produced in March is 29.7 million cubic yards, 1.4% higher than that in March 2024. The estimated production in the U.S. through March is 73 million cubic yards, approximately 7.5% lower than that during the same period in 2024.

Ready mixed concrete production is estimated from cement shipments reported by the U.S. Geological Survey. More detail, including production by state for Q1 of 2025, is available here for NRMCA members under Production Statistics.

Time is running out to take advantage of early registration rates for NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks. Be sure to register by Friday, July 11, to unlock discounted pricing and gain access to a dynamic lineup of expert speakers, engaging education sessions and valuable networking opportunities.

NRMCA will accept applications for the Excellence in Quality Award through Monday, June 30. Companies must be an NRMCA Producer member in good standing to participate; companies can enter as a company or a division. Applicants are asked to respond to a multiple-choice type application form. Companies or divisions that achieve a score of 75% or greater will qualify for the award and will be recognized at NRMCA's ConcreteWorks 2025 scheduled from October 10 - 12 in Orlando, FL. The NRMCA Quality Award is an important member benefit and resource:

  • It recognizes companies for their quality initiatives; recipients can promote their achievement in their local market.
  • Submitted awards establish industry quality benchmarks published in an annual Quality Benchmark Report; a stronger participation develops robust benchmarks.
  • Companies use the award criteria and industry benchmarks to invest in improving their quality management systems; and
  • Companies operating at a higher level of quality attract and retain valued customers.

Pavement

NRMCA Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge was part of the panel of presenters for Concrete Roundabouts – Design to Durability, an event hosted by the Ohio Concrete Association (OCA) promotion team. The online seminar attracted over 270 attendees, including state, county and local municipality engineers as well as a number of representatives from consulting engineering firms.

Kresge opened with an overview of the benefits of concrete pavement for roundabouts. Following him, Pat Plews, P.E., from Woolpert Engineering spoke about the Madison County I-70 & SR 29 interchange project that his firm designed. Next, consulting engineer Todd Audet, P.E., highlighted roundabout projects in Bowling Green, City of Rossford and the Port of Toledo. Kresge then closed the program with a presentation highlighting a concrete roundabout overlay project in nearby Allen County, IN.

The recurring message throughout all the presentations was that concrete pavement is the right choice for resilience, durability and constructability.
