AGC of America is once again getting ready to begin preparing the 2014 Construction Industry Hiring and Business Outlook. A key component of that outlook is the information we hope to gather from members like you. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. And because we know your time is valuable and your input is crucial, everyone that completes a survey will have the opportunity to enter to win a $100 Amazon gift card. Our plan is to spend December compiling survey responses. We will then work with our chief economist, Ken Simonson, and other AGC staff to prepare an analysis of the results which we will release to the media and members as early as the beginning of January. Thank you in advance for your support. Take the survey here.

From gaming to taking in a show to cruising the strip, it’s no secret that Las Vegas offers some great entertainment. And, although there’s no guarantee they’ll go home wealthier, it’s a sure bet AGC’s 95th Annual Convention attendees will leave with more construction and industry knowledge than they had when they arrived.

Scheduled for March 3-6, 2014, at The Bellagio Resort & Casino, the convention will provide solutions on key construction issues, networking events designed to strengthen business relationships, and opportunities for members to impact other contractors, the industry and the association. Register now and prepare to learn, connect and build.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now collecting applications for the 2013 Construction Equipment Funding Opportunity, a pilot rebate program for non-road engines. EPA currently has $2 million in available funding for rebates to help public and private construction equipment owners repower or retrofit their older diesel construction engines. This program is made possible by the Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA), which Congress reauthorized in January 2011 to allow rebates, in addition to grants and revolving loans.

Be sure to read Constructor magazine's July/August 2014 issue for a detailed account of the 2013 Construction Equipment Funding Opportunity: who was awarded money, how it was put to work and what the direct implications of the program are to the industry.

There were 71 toys donated with an estimated value of $1,000; an additional 252 toys were purchased with cash donations that totaled $2,627. A special thanks goes to Anna Heins, A G Heins Co., and Lauren McCauley, Modspace, who helped shop and deliver the toys to Mission of Hope.
