NENA's NG9-1-1 Implementation Coordination Event (ICE) series is a long-running program and has been held since 2009. An event "by the vendors, for the vendors", NENA sponsors the event to bring together NG91-1 product and service vendors in an open, supportive, collaborative environment. At ICE, vendors build interoperability test cases and test their products (production or prototype) against each other's products using test case document(s) based on existing and evolving standards. ICE 13 testing scenarios will be focused on CLDXF Conveyance, PCA Certificate Management, NG-PSAP Calls with Callback, Conferencing Capabilities, CAD-to-CAD EIDO and DTLS with SRTP/SRTCP. This year, ICE events will include the following:
All vendors are welcome! An ICE 13 Planning Committee has been formed, and vendors such as NG9-1-1 equipment systems and services, logging, and CAD are encouraged to join. A valid and legally defensible credentialing examination, like NENA's Emergency Number Professional (ENP) certification exam, is built upon a well-designed and current Job Analysis. To that end, the NENA Institute Board (NIB), the body charged with overseeing the ENP Program, will conduct a new Job Analysis over the next year. A Task Force of subject matter experts will compile statements of knowledge, tasks, and competencies, as well as rating scales, to be used in a survey of ENPs. Survey results will then be used to develop an updated Body of Knowledge, an improved Item Bank of questions for the ENP exam, and new examination forms for future ENP examinations. Through the Job Analysis process, the ENP examination will continue to reflect the Body of Knowledge needed to demonstrate competence in the 9-1-1 industry. Those who sit for the examination can remain assured that all questions on the exam are consistent with current job responsibilities of 9-1-1 professionals and will continue to be, as supported by this Job Analysis. Anyone having questions about the Job Analysis may contact NENA contractor Bob Cobb or the Institute Board's Nick LaMontia.
