NENA is happy to announce the availability of fifty Gold Line Telecommunicator Continuing Education Scholarships! This scholarship opportunity is open to any 9-1-1 telecommunicator, call taker, or dispatcher with at least one year of experience and in good standing with their current employer. Supervisory and other managerial personnel are not eligible for this award. Previous annual-conference scholarship recipients (ex. Gold Line, Women in 9-1-1) are not eligible for this award. Each Telecommunicator Continuing Education Scholarship recipient receives:
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must complete and submit the scholarship application and provide a current resume. Any answers you provide in the "short answer" section of the application must be written by you without any AI or "chatbot" assistance. Applications will be accepted through February 15, 2025. Contact the Elections Committee with any questions about the nomination process, eligibility requirements, or general election details. ![]() The newly-resvied, ANSI-approved NENA Standard for the Conveyance of Emergency Incident Data Objects (EIDOs) Between Next Generation (NG9-1-1) Systems and Applications includes methods for resource discovery and push notifications for requests for service, requests for awareness, and responses thereto. Other changes include corrections, clarifications, and other improvements. Thank you to the EIDO Conveyance Working Group members for committing their time and expertise to establishing this standard. The ANSI-approved NENA Standard for 911/988 Interactions provides recommendations and best practices to help callers who are experiencing mental health crises. It outlines operational and technical considerations for ECCs/PSAPs to establish an effective working relationship with the 988 community. Thank you to the 911/988 Interactions Working Group members for committing their time and expertise to establishing this standard. The Monitoring Association (TMA) Standards Committee has received confirmation from ANSI that the Public Comment Period for its TMA-ATN-01 Monitoring Center Notification of Active Threat Detection is officially open through April 1, 2025. The standard outlines a uniform approach to handling active threat events, acknowledges, integrates various detection technologies, and provides detailed guidelines on record-keeping, data management, and process monitoring. The goal of this standard is to significantly enhance the synergy between the security industry and public safety, fostering a safer environment through more informed and rapid responses to active threats. Having adjudicated all comments, the NENA Virtual PSAP Management Standard is now considered "stable." Per NENA Development Group Operational Procedures Section 3.3.2.6, a "Stable Form Notice" is being issued and can be viewed here.
