How Mechanical Contractors Can Quickly Identify and Recover from a Ransomware Attack

Ransomware attacks are on the rise in the AEC industry. In fact, a recent Egnyte study found that AEC customers were twice as likely to suffer a ransomware attack as the cross-industry average. Now is the time to protect your data and your company.
But before you can defend against a ransomware attack you need to understand a ransomware attack. Join Ronen Vengosh, VP, AEC, and cybersecurity expert Nick Espinosa (former MCA Canada speaker), as they dissect the anatomy of a ransomware attack, providing valuable insight in how they work and steps you can take to help you decrease your risk of suffering an attack and recovering faster if you do.

Dear Wise Wayne,

I am at a loss, I am a service contractor that has been called by a long-standing customer for warranty work. I don’t want to damage our relationship; however, my labour costs are not covered within the product warranty. I need to send two technicians on a six-hour round trip service call. Should I just absorb the labour costs? This will come at a significant cost to my company, considering my hourly crew rate and lost potential revenue.

Do you have any suggestions?

Sincerely,
At a Loss

Dear At a Loss,

Good news! MCAM will be launching and extended parts and labour warranty program for members. MCAM’s upcoming Lunch and Learn will feature a presentation on extended warranty and an overview on the program. Please attend the lunch and learn session on Nov. 25!

Congratulations Madame Premier. MCAM is looking forward to working with the Hon. Heather Stefanson and will be reaching out to the premier's office to continue discussions of industry priorities. Following meetings with MCAM executive during the leadership campaign, the then-candidate provided the following commitment to industry...

“I am fully committed to ensure The Prompt Payment In The Construction Industries Act is passed and our contractors and sub contractors receive timely remuneration for the excellent work they do in building Manitoba.
Additionally, I will ensure that appropriate collaborative relationships with Manitoba’s contractors are strengthened and continue into the future.
