The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) is conducting a global safeguard investigation into quartz surface products (QSP) under Section 202 of the Trade Act of 1974 (Investigation No. TA-201-79). As part of this process, the Commission is collecting detailed information directly from countertop and surface fabricators to better understand the market, industry conditions, and potential impacts on U.S. businesses. Countertop and surface fabrication companies and contractors are encouraged to complete the official USITC questionnaire. Responses are mandatory, and the Commission may issue subpoenas or other orders if required (19 U.S.C. § 1333(a)). All data collected will be used solely for the purposes of this investigation. As we look ahead to 2026, ISFA is doubling down on the purpose that has guided this association since day one: ensuring fabricators have a strong, united voice shaping the future of our industry. This year marks a pivotal shift—not toward reinventing who we are, but toward standing more firmly in that identity. Fabricators are facing real pressures, from regulatory uncertainty to workforce challenges, and ISFA is stepping forward to provide the representation and clarity our members deserve.
In this article, our CEO shares how ISFA is evolving into true industry infrastructure, what that means for shop owners, and how new initiatives—such as the American Countertop Manufacturers Council (ACMC)—will help ensure fabricators are heard where it matters most. It’s a look at where we’re going, why it matters, and how we’re moving forward—together.
