Recently, a couple of members contacted me to suggest that HAC should create a Guide to Chartering Helicopters. The Association is contacted with regularity from prospective customers, asking if the association can recommend a company to charter a helicopter from. I am constantly amazed how uninformed these individuals are about our industry.

Quelques membres ont récemment communiqué avec moi pour suggérer que l’ACH crée un guide au nolisement d’hélicoptères. L’ACH reçoit aussi régulièrement des appels de clients potentiels demandant si notre association peut recommander des entreprises de services d’hélicoptère pour noliser des appareils. Je suis toujours surpris du manque d’information de ces personnes au sujet de notre industrie.

You may recall from a previous issue of the Newsletter, that Transport Canada is revisiting the definitions of Flight Time and Air Time that were recently imposed on the industry. The current definitions have been delivered to Justice, for their interpretation, and there has been some recent dialogue with HAC.

Vous vous souviendrez que dans un numéro antérieur de notre bulletin, nous avons indiqué que Transports Canada en entrepris de réviser les définitions des temps de vols et des temps dans les airs qui ont récemment été imposées à notre industrie. Les définitions actuelles ont été présentées au ministère de la Justice pour son interprétation, et il y a eu des discussions récentes avec l’ACH qui a informé le ministère de certains problèmes avec les définitions actuelles.

Problems arising with the new draft regulations delayed their publication in Canada Gazette II in June. We are led to believe that the delays have occurred as a result of resistance from both Liberal and Conservative MPs, and from questions arising from Treasury Board staff.

Des problèmes avec la nouvelle réglementation proposée ont retardé sa publication dans la Partie II de la Gazette du Canada en juin. Le retard semble être dû à une résistance autant de la part de députés libéraux que conservateurs, ainsi qu’à des questions soulevées par le personnel du Conseil du Trésor.
