New Flight & Duty Time Regulations NOT Published in Canada Gazette II in June

Problems arising with the new draft regulations delayed their publication in Canada Gazette II in June. We are led to believe that the delays have occurred as a result of resistance from both Liberal and Conservative MPs, and from questions arising from Treasury Board staff. At a recent Fatigue Management in Transportation Conference in Montreal, a senior Transport Canada Manager announced that that the new regulations would be published “sometime this summer.” Your efforts to make your views known, and the efforts of the customers and communities that you serve, to make their views known, have been largely responsible for the delay in publication of these oppressive new proposed regulations. We need to keep the pressure on. If you haven’t contacted your MP yet, ask to meet with them now that they are back in their Home Riding. If you have contacted your MP please follow-up with them to ensure that they have contacted Minister Garneau to articulate their concerns.
