Transport Canada Denies HAC’s Request for an Extension to the CRM Requirements

Transport Canada has refused to offer an extension to the Jan. 31, 2019 deadline to implement CRM training in accordance with AC 700-042. HAC has argued that the in-force date is simply too soon, given that CRM instructors are hard-to-come-by; even if they take the HAC train-the-trainers course in YVR, they still have to develop a course of their own, and have it approved by the inspector, and get their COM approved – and even then, some Transport Canada inspectors haven’t been trained to approve courses, yet.

Transport Canada (TC) Crew Resource Management (CRM) e-learning course

On behalf of Transport Canada, we are pleased to offer you a CRM e-learning course with the overarching goal to provide HAC members with the guidance necessary in the validation process of their CRM training program.

With your help in communicating this message, we encourage association members to follow the links provide and to take the time to review the 30 minute CRM e-learning course available in both official languages.

The training objective are as follows:

  • TC’s Advisory Circular (AC) 700-042.
  • CRM training requirements checklist that forms part of AC 700-042.
  • Non-Technical Skill Elements and its relationship with TP 6533 Approved Check Pilot Manual.
