CPA Public Affairs
August 2021
Advocacy News

Our new branding gives us the opportunity to increase our marketing efforts to promote propane and the many roles it plays in the lives of Canadians. We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with HGTV Canada and more specifically, its hit series Rock Solid Builds, currently one of the most-watched home improvement shows on the network.

On August 6, the CPA filed its prebudget submission to the House of Commons Finance Committee. Each year, the Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Minister of Finance based on submissions they receive from stakeholders such as industry groups, as well the general public.

Government failing to understand electric does not always mean greener and cheaper
New Brunswick is the last of the four Atlantic provinces to announce an incentive program for the purchase of eligible electric vehicles.

On August 4, 2021, the CPA met with Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ (MOECP) representatives to discuss the requirements for refillable propane cylinders under Ontario Regulation 449/21, Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Category E.

As members are aware, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority’s (TSSA) new business model fee structure for regulated industries that became effective on May 1, 2021 represents significantly higher costs for many propane businesses.

Following the implementation of the new logo and branding of the CPA, we encourage you to update all your communications material with our new logo, available in the Document Centre in your online member profile (Category: CPA Member Logo).

COVID-19
Starting Sept. 13, 2021, proof of vaccination will be required in B.C. for people attending certain social and recreational settings and events.

The Manitoba government will require all provincial employees who work with vulnerable populations to be fully immunized for COVID-19 by Oct. 31, or undergo regular testing, to protect Manitoba against a fourth COVID-19 wave.

In response to evolving data around the transmissibility of the Delta variant and based on the recent experiences of other jurisdictions, the government is making COVID-19 vaccination policies mandatory in high-risk settings, pausing the province’s exit from the Roadmap to Reopen and providing third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to vulnerable populations.

Starting Sept. 1, the Québec government is adopting a vaccination passport system to combat rising COVID-19 cases and an "inevitable" fourth wave.
