Upcoming Events (old)
AACS members have an additional bonus that will be taking place at this year’s CEA Convention. In addition to the great classes being offered for teachers, there will be a special learning track, AMP (Admissions and Marketing Professionals), being offered. Separate from the CEA classes, these sessions will be geared toward the school’s staff who work in the Admissions and Marketing departments. Session titles include:

• Why is your Lead Enrolling at Your Competition?,
• Do’s and Don’ts of Handling Admissions Calls
• Social Media Marketing
• Best Practices sessions covering Retention, Admissions and Marketing and more.

Also, some of the sessions will be interactive, utilizing the popular Fishbowl format, so be prepared to share some of the best practices you use at your school.  This AMP program will also be valuable for school owners and directors who are involved with their admissions departments. Without getting into all of the mumbo-jumbo, the most important take away from release of the House Budget Committee's proposal, entitled A Balanced Budget for a Stronger America, is that it seeks to cut $877 billion in non-Defense Domestic spending over ten years, and once again includes language which would seek to freeze the maximum Federal Pell Grant award at the FY2016 level for the next 10 years. Here are some key excerpts from the documents.

Just because you have not seen the endless stream of Electronic Announcements, Dear Colleague Letters, Q&A Additions, and/or Updates to the GE Informational webpage doesn't mean that GE has gone away. In fact, the only Electronic Announcement – EA#73 – Spring 2016 Distribution of Draft GE Completers Lists – foreshadows the busy time ahead for all of us beginning in April. In an effort to remind you of what you can be doing now to prepare, and shed light on the revised timeline leading up to initial publication of rates and final publication of rates, please join us for the first webinar of 2016, next Thursday, March 24, 2016. Registration information to follow.

Beauty Change Lives

The Beauty Changes Lives Experience kicked off SHOUT YOUR BEAUTY! — a social consciousness campaign at Chicago’s Soldier Field on March 12, during America’s Beauty Show. Attendees shouted their perceptions of beauty on a statement wall near the pink carpet. Get ready for an inclusive campaign that will connect the industry with consumers during national SHOUT YOUR BEAUTY week, Aug. 1-7.

And between now and August 7, Pivot Point will donate $1 to BCL scholarships for every Instagram post with the hashtag #SHOUTYOURBEAUTY or #BEAUTYCHANGESLIVES. More details will be shared soon on www.SHOUTYOURBEAUTY.com

Although you might understand the importance of having a mobile marketing strategy, you might be stumped on exactly what changes you need to make to accommodate today’s mobile-heavy world. Most companies ensure they have a mobile responsive site and consider their mobile strategy a fait accompli. But the journey that a mobile user takes can be so drastically different from that of a desktop user, that there are actually quite a few more steps involved in optimizing your campaigns for mobile devices. AACS Member Benefit

Vital advisory and governing boards create additional opportunities to enhance school operations. Well-prepared board members engaged in appropriate and timely activities can make a substantial contribution to a school's operational, financial and management success. Creating, managing and maintaining effective advisory and governing boards can be a demanding yet rewarding process.

Board members have to be identified, recruited, and trained to be effective and to understand their role as individual contributors and as members of a group of advisors. To gain maximum leverage from a board, members must also remain motivated and retain a concentrated focus on the school's mission, purposes and goals. OP110 - Developing Effective Advisory and Governing Boards provides a blueprint, with accompanying checklists, for establishing and maintaining effective advisory and governing boards in a career school setting.
