Home Hardware Stores Limited welcomed Dan Higgins as Cleaning Supplies and Commercial Sales & Marketing Product Manager recently.

Dan joins the Home team from an extensive history in commercial maintenance and retail sales management. Formerly a commercial maintenance specialist and a retail sales manager, Dan will help Home Dealers to serve their commercial customers in every corner of the country.

We are excited to welcome Dan Higgins onto our team of exceptional Product Managers at Home Hardware,” said Brian Straus, Group Merchandise Manager, Home Hardware Stores Limited. “With a proven track record, Dan will be able to assist our Dealers with the ability to provide commercial supplies and service to almost 1,100 communities across Canada.” 

 

 

In front of more than 500 people, representing the Quebec’s Hardware and Building Materials Industry, Roland Boulanger & Cie Ltee. was awarded the prestigious Prix Patrimoine from the Quebec Hardware and Building Materials Association (AQMAT) at its annual Gala Reconnaissance in Quebec City this past February 18th.

The award honours family tradition in the hardware and building materials industry, celebrating businesses where two or more generations work together. For the Boulanger Group, belonging to this exclusive club of third-generation family businesses is the perfect way to kick off its 75th year in business.

On February 24th in Grand Falls, NB, Drummond Building Supplies was awarded "Business of the Year".

The business opened 40 years ago in 1976. They a customer base in a competitive market and accomplished sales increases every year.

In 1981 Drummond Building Supplies was featured in the local journal named "UP FROM GROUND ZERO". The name really resonated with their entrance into the market.

In 2000, Drummond Building Supplies introduced a Vendors Appreciation Night to recognize the various Manufacturers Representatives who called on them. "I wanted to express gratitude for the work they do" states Daniel Theriault.  Some years they hosted over 50 people at this event.

Daniel is proud of his staff and appreciates them like family.

Lowe’s Canada outlined in February its plans to grow the Ace brand by investing resources and by developing existing and potential dealer relationships across Canada. They are very pleased to announce that Saffer Retail has joined the Ace Canada team and will lead the marketing initiatives that will help grow the brand in Canada.

Richard Hill, the Managing Partner for Saffer Retail, has been named Marketing Director, Ace Canada, and will lead the marketing team based in Ace Canada’s new Mississauga, Ontario, offices. With over 20 years’ experience, Hill has been leading the advertising and marketing campaigns of some of Canada’s best-known brands, including Home Hardware.

Estimating Fundamentals – Decks & Garages
This course is developed and provided by ABSDA to introduce a respectful process to understanding and completing manual take-offs for simpler building projects.
This course will give you the tools and training to help give better customer service in the estimating of building materials for deck, shed, and garage projects as well as front counter sales. It details and explains the processes required to become better at: understanding your customer, visualizing and breaking down building projects, understanding component and products use and calculations including waste considerations.

April 5 & 6
Estimating Fundamentals – Residential Construction
This course will give you the tools and training to help give better customer service in the estimating of building materials for house, roof and metal sheathing projects. It details and explains the processes required to become better at: understanding your customer, visualizing and breaking down building projects, understanding component and products use and calculations including waste considerations.

April 7
Yard Foreman – Operations Manager
This seminar is designed to provide a clearer understanding of what it takes to manage one of your most important assets – the YARD! Not only will your foreman return with a better understanding of his or her position and how it relates to the ultimate success of the total business, but your foreman will have firm ideas and methods ready for immediate implementation.

  • Participants will learn the importance of a well-managed yard, storage and delivery operations in the retail building supply business. 
  • Participants will understand the impact of yard operations on the bottom line. 
  • Participants will look at the principles of efficient warehouse and yard lay-out. 
  • This course will cover all aspects of the job – from inventory management, effective use of equipment, work-place safety – to customer service and employee management.
