April 3 & 4
Estimating Fundamentals – Decks & Garages
This course is developed and provided by ABSDA to introduce a respectful process to understanding and completing manual take-offs for simpler building projects.
This course will give you the tools and training to help give better customer service in the estimating of building materials for deck, shed, and garage projects as well as front counter sales. It details and explains the processes required to become better at: understanding your customer, visualizing and breaking down building projects, understanding component and products use and calculations including waste considerations.

April 5 & 6
Estimating Fundamentals – Residential Construction
This course will give you the tools and training to help give better customer service in the estimating of building materials for house, roof and metal sheathing projects. It details and explains the processes required to become better at: understanding your customer, visualizing and breaking down building projects, understanding component and products use and calculations including waste considerations.

April 7
Yard Foreman – Operations Manager
This seminar is designed to provide a clearer understanding of what it takes to manage one of your most important assets – the YARD! Not only will your foreman return with a better understanding of his or her position and how it relates to the ultimate success of the total business, but your foreman will have firm ideas and methods ready for immediate implementation.

  • Participants will learn the importance of a well-managed yard, storage and delivery operations in the retail building supply business. 
  • Participants will understand the impact of yard operations on the bottom line. 
  • Participants will look at the principles of efficient warehouse and yard lay-out. 
  • This course will cover all aspects of the job – from inventory management, effective use of equipment, work-place safety – to customer service and employee management.
