A record 931 million metric tons of cargo moved through the the Brazilian port system in 2013, according to data compiled and reported by the national waterways agency, Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (ANTAQ). The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) opened calendar year 2014 with a strong January, posting year-on-year increases of 12.5 percent in container volumes and 7.3 percent in cargo tonnage. The Port of Houston Authority generated record container movement and cargo tonnage in 2013, with container throughput of 1,950,071 TEUs and an unprecedented 36 million short tons of cargo handled. The Port of Los Angeles reports container volume at its facilities totaled 685,0550 TEUs in January, an increase of 2.5 percent from 669,000 TEUs in January 2012.

NuStar Energy L.P. has completed construction of a private marine loading dock at its North Beach Terminal in the Port of Corpus Christi. Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Hawaii Harbor System’s revenue bond rating at an "A " grade, citing a stable future outlook. A study commissioned by Port Saint John and New Brunswick’s Tourism, Heritage and Culture Department to examine Saint John’s potential as a cruise homeport concludes that the port is best suited to welcome expedition-class ships.

The Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey on February 19 approved the purchase of more than 200 "green" vehicles, bringing the number of alternative-fuel, environmentally-friendly cars and trucks to approximately 85 percent of the agency’s fleet.
