The city of Charlottesville is a quarter finalist in a competition hosted by Georgetown University to encourage cities to look at alternative energy conservation solutions. City Councilor Kristen Szakos is reaching out to the local multifamily market for help. As some of the largest housing providers in the area, their implementation of small, energy-efficient practices can mean big aggregate savings for the city. Energy consumption will be tracked over the next two years, and in 2017, 10 finalists will be chosen.
