A new publication from Virginia Tech, Sustainable Property Management, explains how ecologically sustainable concepts may be implemented throughout property-management operation functions while also considering the other spheres of sustainability. The 150-page book incorporates the theme of sustainable building practices as a human science as well as a building science by highlighting motivations and impacts to various stakeholders. The book is authored by Dr. Erin A. Hopkins, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech, and is freely available at https://doi.org/10.21061/sustainable_property_management and may be ordered as a print-on-demand book.
Over the years, we have continuously focused on the leasing experience, allowing prospects and residents to connect with the community via phone calls, SMS texting and emails. Now, more than ever, we are focusing on personalizing these experiences. All of these avenues have allowed us to meet the consumer where they are at and at their preference, ultimately providing outstanding customer service. Now, it's time to do the same with maintenance.

The SunTrust building off Virginia Beach Blvd was just demolished to make way for apartments, retail and a hotel at Pembroke Square. Due to high construction costs, the project is being scaled back: The hotel will be 7 stories instead of 14, and the apartment building will be 7 stories instead of 12. Both projects are being rediesigned with a hope to break ground in Q3 or Q4 of 2024.
