HRAC Congratulates 2020 ACE Award Winners
The Hampton Roads Apartment Council, a division of the Virginia Apartment Management Association, hosted their 8th Annual ACE Awards on Friday, July 10, 2020. HRAC's ACE Awards recognize excellence in the field of property management, and are usually held in a gala format, but were held virtually this year due to guidelines related to COVID-19. Each year impartial judges tour Hampton Roads area communities and interview team members, and have recognized the following apartment communities and staff as leaders in the field of property management.

July Rent Payment Numbers Are In
According to the National Multifamily Housing Council's rent tracker, apartment communities received rent payments from 77.4% of households by July 6th. This is down from both June 2020 payments and in comparison to last year's July payments.

Charlottesville: Certificate of Occupancy Expected This Month for Brookhill-Area Apartments
The certificate of occupancy is expected this month for Archer Brookhill Apartments in Charlottesville. The Brookhill development will include 1,550 units, including apartments, condos and villas.
Chesapeake: Helix Leasing 133 Units at New Summit Pointe Development
Helix Apartments, part of the new Summit Pointe development in Chesapeake's Central Business District, is expecting to start move-ins this summer. 
Christiansburg: Revamped Marketplace to Include Apartments
The Christiansburg Marketplace announced they would provide space for 150-350 apartments in the redevelopment of the shopping center. Apartments could open as early as 2021.
Manchester: 7-Story Mixed Use Community Proposed
Plans have been submitted for the 7-story mixed-use development to include 118 units at former box factory site. 
Richmond: $4M Conversion of Historic Building to Apartments Complete
Rehab just wrapped up. The St. Luke Building, from the early 1900s, was converted to 14 apartments in Gilpin.
Richmond: Hotel Developer Pivots to Apartments in Light of Pandemic
The developer was working on redevelopment of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality building in downtown to a Hyatt hotel. But due to the disruption the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the hotel industry, is now planning on 189 apartments instead.
Virginia Beach: Former Farm Fresh to Become Apartment Community
A building off Laskin Road that previously housed a Farm Fresh is now going to house 240 apartments.
