BRAC's 5th Annual Food Drive

In 2014, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank distributed 24.2 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 20.2 million meals, to people in need. More than 114,000 people each month receive sustenance through a network of 224 partner agencies—food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, churches and other non-profit groups. The Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, a national food bank association that supports more than 200 food banks across the United States.
Each year, BRAC presents an award to the community/company that collected the most food during this food drive. In 2015, BRAC collected a total of 2,043 lbs of food (in 2014, we collected 1,122 lbs of food). The community that collected the most food in 2015 will be recognized at the Membership Keynote Luncheon on March 15th. Sign up today to help us give back to our community.
All that communities need to do is allow us to place a food donation barrel at your designated location. We will provide marketing material for you to put up at this location as well as to market to your residents (electronic marketing material will be available as well). We will deliver the barrels on or around Monday, April 18th and will pick them up on or around May 27th. If your barrel gets full in the mean time, simply call for a new one. We are also looking for supplier members to sign up to assist with delivering barrels and replacing fresh barrels, as needed.
