Time is running out to nominate your best 2016 paving project for the VAA "Virginia's Best" Paving Awards. The prestige associated with winning a Virginia’s Best Paving Award pays big dividends from a marketing standpoint.  Winners are not only recognized in front of their peers at the Fall Asphalt Conference, they are featured on the VAA website homepage, in the VAA membership directory, in the VAA newsletter (Asphalt News) and in the VAA Magazine (Virginia Asphalt). So, if you have a great project, dont' hesitate, nominate!  To complete the nomination information for the Virginia’s Best categories, visit our website. The deadline for nominations is August 1, 2017.

The Annual Asphalt Pavement Awards for work done in 2016 will be presented at the 2017 Fall Asphalt Conference and Expo on October 2, 2017.   Paving awards are presented for paving excellence by two entities.  VDOT presents awards for the "Best Maintenance and Best Construction" pavements and VAA presents awards for Virginia’s Best in Commercial, Municipal, Non-Traditional, and Green projects.  The VDOT award nominees are selected by VDOT District personnel, one maintenance and one construction project per district. From those, the winner for the entire state in each category is chosen. Candidates for the VAA awards are submitted by asphalt producer members or municipalities who nominate their own projects that they consider outstanding work.

The VAA awards for "Virginia’s Best" in all four categories are selected based on the information provided by the contractor or municipality submitting the nomination. A VAA representative visits the project site and assesses the work done and then selects the winner in each category. Typically, the crews who pave these projects are different from the crews who perform the VDOT projects. The Virginia’s Best Paving Awards give each company an opportunity to recognize the hard work of their crews and highlight their commitment to quality.
