Discussion With The Department

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Members, join VAA as we host an informal session with: Garrett Moore, VDOT Chief Engineer and Other VDOT Central Office & District Senior Management.

VDOT is the single largest customer for the asphalt industry. More than four million tons of mix per year is provided for use on VDOT projects or to VDOT directly. Beyond this tonnage, VDOT specifi-cations and guidelines impact most of the non-VDOT tonnage produced in the state. By having such a big impact directly and indirectly, it is important that companies understand what VDOT wants and that VDOT understands what companies can provide. Through formal and informal meetings, this exchange of information can strengthen the partnership between each entity.

To that end, on the afternoon of August 17, Garrett Moore, VDOT Chief Engineer; Mohammad Mirshahi, Deputy Chief Engineer; all District Engineers or Assistant District Engineers; Kerry Bates, State Construction Engineer and Andy Babish, State Materials Engineer will meet with the VAA members from 1:00 pm until 4:00 p.m. at the Troutman Sanders Building on Haxall Point in Richmond. A "Board Plus" format will be used to facilitate casual and open dialogue. For those not familiar with this format, it simply means the room will be set up like a board of directors meeting with Garrett and other VDOT Senior Management at the table with the VAA Board of Directors. Additional seating will be setup around the "board table" for VAA members who wish to attend. Please note, this meeting is open to all members, so we strongly encourage you to attend and participate (questions and comments are welcome from all who attend). Due to room size restrictions, registration is on a first come, first served basis.  For complete details, go to the VAA website.
