Richard J. Schreck Scholarship Classic

On May 3, 2017 VAA hosted the first Richard J. Schreck Scholarship Golf Tournament. This event is one of three regional tournaments scheduled for 2017. It took place at the Riverfront Golf Club in Suffolk; the weather was awesome and everyone had a great time, especially the winners!   

 

First place went to the team of Del Baker, Dave Corbin, Charles Tamayo, and Ed Manley from Virginia Paving. The second place team was Mark Range, Billy Powers, Steve Beeles and Steve Walters. Third place was won by Bobby Hedrick, Kevin Jones, Evan Spivey and Shawn Howell. Ben Miller and Steve Walters walked away with closest to the pin prizes and Bobby Hedrick and P.T. Going made the longest drives.

 

Thanks to the hard work of the Hampton Roads regional committee, chaired by Kevin Jones and Bobby Hedrick, the tournament raised approximately $6500 to be used for 2018 scholarships. These funds help dependents of VAA member companies with their higher education expenses.

The next RJS Scholarship Tournament will take place in NOVA region, chaired by David Horton and David Riemenschneider. Plan to support the scholarship program and enjoy a day of networking on the golf course, August 11, 2017at Bull Run Golf Club in Haymarket, Virginia. Keep your eyes open for the golf and sponsor registration coming your way in early June.
