Participants at this year’s TONE Conference held on February 24 experienced the first TONE Talks session!  Based on the well-received TED Talks, presenters were asked to share with conference participants their research and best practice.  Mary Lou Wilson presented her project on how nurse caring behaviors can impact patient satisfaction and outcomes.  Sharon Mathai shared how nurse physician rounding can improve both communication and collaboration of multidisciplinary teams.  Shannon Stone demonstrated how an in-house development program known as EVOLVE improved nurse leader satisfaction scores and engagement.

Conference participant Ray DeAnda, MBA, BSN, Administrative Supervisor at Texas Health Resources stated, “The posters were very informative and it was a great idea to have the presenters present to interact and ask questions.”  Carrie Walters, MS N/HSM, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, Corporate Director North Texas Division Perioperative Services at Baylor Scott & White Health added, “I especially enjoyed the composition of TONE Talks at this year’s TONE Conference.  Each speaker provided an excellent review of the challenges and opportunities inherent to their topic.   Content and presentation was high quality and engaging.”  Each year, the TONE Education committee composed of board members begins planning the conference content in September.  TONE Education Chairwoman and board member, Caryn Iverson, PhD, MBA/MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer added, “The education committee tries to take into consideration current affairs and the hot topics on leadership development.  We take the best from the best.”  Have a suggestion for the 2018 TONE Conference?  Please contact Caryn.Iverson@hcahealthcare.com or Shannon.Stone@hcahealthcare.com to share your ideas.
