Chairman’s Message By Jeff Mason: Looking Forward to Another Successful Year
As incoming chairman for TMRA, I consider it a privilege to work with those that make up the TMRA Team. This organization could not succeed and accomplish our mission if not for the dedicated individuals who work diligently to make things happen!
Stop and consider what TMRA is and how we impact every Texan in the state. Our membership includes companies and individuals that serve every aspect of the lignite, industrial minerals and uranium industries. Products and services from these industries are used in hundreds of everyday items. Our members employ thousands and contribute millions of dollars to the economy.
Our mission is to be a single voice for the Texas mining industry while keeping a balance between production, environmental protection, economics and public welfare. We strongly believe we can maintain that balance while serving the needs of the people of Texas. We are also a very active organization working almost daily with the public, regulators and legislators.
There are three things you should know about TMRA . . . we are changing as our industries change, our membership is strong, and we have a passion to accomplish our mission! The leadership at TMRA has maintained a focus on managing our budget, while increasing our public outreach and partnering with other industry groups. We are increasing and expanding our membership base and I encourage you to solicit other members for our cause. If you were able to attend the annual meeting in Galveston, you experienced the passion of the group in the speakers, presentations and the fundraiser auction!
We have a place for you! There are many opportunities within our group to serve on committees and task teams. There are even more outreach areas through Facebook, Twitter and recruiting teachers for our highly successful teacher workshops next summer.
