TMRA 2018 Education/Outreach Auction

By Francye Hutchins, Education Director/Contractor

The auction at TMRA’s 2018 Annual meeting raised over $280,000 to support TMRA’s Teacher Workshops and other Outreach initiatives including focused Social Media on Facebook and Twitter. We couldn’t do this without the continued support of the TMRA membership – Owner/Operators and Support Members alike.

Thank you to the generous member companies who donated items to be auctioned and thank you to the member companies and individual members who purchased the items.

Because of your support TMRA will be providing six teacher workshops this Summer, reaching approximately 120 teachers with the true story of mining and reclamation. Those teachers will reach over 100,000 students in just one year -- and if they continue to teach they will reach that many students every year.

Peter Luthiger with EFR’s Alta Mesa Project, brought TMRA a $4,000 grant from SME – South Texas Chapter to help fund the Teacher Workshops.

Our Teacher Workshops are a huge success having now reached over 1.5 million students in Texas with solid, fact-based information about mining Texas’ valuable resources while protecting the environment.

This tremendous Education and Outreach is only possible because YOU support it. Here is a note from one of the Workshop attendees on her evaluation form this past Summer.
