TAHFM Committees

TAHFM offers many opportunities for members to get involved and this includes committees. Typical commitment per month is 1-3 hours with one meeting per month and it also gives you an opportunity to network with fellow facility managers and member. TAHFM committees help the Association meet the annual goals set by the Board of Directors. (At this time, committee assignments are only available for healthcare facility manager members.)

Membership: This committee is responsible for keeping the ranks of the TAHFM membership solid by engaging, via email, telephone or at in-person events, those whose memberships have expired.  They also reach out to non-member facilities to educate them about TAHFM and the advantages of membership.

Marketing/Communications: This committee is responsible for the oversight of social media / engagement, newsletters, and other electronic communications of the organization to educate membership of news, information, and events, as well as promoting TAHFM membership.

Young Professionals:  This committee is responsible for engaging and connecting with other young and new-to-the-industry professionals. They coordinate networking opportunities in the TAHFM regions, as well as provide direction to the Board of Directors on what young and new-to-the-industry professionals are in need of.

Annual Conference:  This committee is responsible for oversight of planning and promotion of a successful Annual Conference for the education, networking, and enjoyment of all involved.  They design and develop high-quality sessions and events taking into consideration any specific regional needs.

Education:  This committee is responsible for planning and promoting successful Regional Education programs and Networking/Social Events in all seven (7) of TAHFM’s Regions. Members of this committee also promote scholarship and award opportunities and drive digital content for social media.

Scholarship: This committee is responsible for review and selection of scholarship recipients for the ASHE and TAHFM Annual Conferences, as well as the Rufus Cleghorn, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for higher education. Selections are then made to the Executive Board for final approval.

Certifications
I currently have a Master of Arts degree and am working on my MBA, to be completed Dec. 2022. I am preparing to sit for my CLSS-HC and working towards my CHFM and my PMP as well.

How has TAHFM/ASHE contributed to your career?
TAHFM/ASHE has contributed to my career by allowing me the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. It has opened up additional resources and pathways that have allowed me to become more proficient and knowledgeable in my profession.

Background into the field of healthcare facilities
I have been working in a Healthcare Facilities Management setting since 2017, holding several different positions in that time.

Personal Tidbit
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and still enjoy being outdoors. In my free time I enjoy going hiking, shooting, and swimming.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I think the biggest reward I receive from my job is knowing that I have made a difference in the patient care experience by providing a safe and quality environment for them to receive their care. We do not handle patient care, but without the facility, patient care would be very hard to accomplish. Oddly enough I also enjoy the consistent inconsistency that comes with Healthcare Facilities Management. I think that is the Emergency Manager in me, but it definitely keeps me on my toes.

What are your plans for future growth?
I plan to finish my MBA this year. I also plan to grow the TAHFM membership in Region 8 by offering valuable content to current members and future members via education and networking events. I think these two items will keep me busy for a little while. Eventually I would like to start teaching on the side because I enjoy sharing what I have learned with others.
