The quality pavement awards nominations are now being accepted. Any member can submit a project to be considered for an award. The deadline has been extended to May 15, 2015. The projects submitted must have been completed in 2014.

The intent of the awards program is to encourage and recognize quality built Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavements. The awards program was established to honor those individuals and firms that have excelled in the production, placement, and quality assurance on an HMA project. Too many times quality projects and the people responsible for those projects are not recognized or given the amount of credit they deserve. This program is designed to support and acknowledge TxDOT, contractors, and most importantly the individuals that constructed the quality built HMA project.

AUSTIN – Showing how even the smallest trash can add up to a very big mess, the Texas Department of Transportation today hosted an event on the Capitol lawn to launch several new public service announcements as part of its iconic "Don’t mess with Texas" anti-litter campaign. The first round of PSAs will feature TxDOT Executive Director Lt. Gen. Joe Weber, USMC (Ret), with subsequent announcements showcasing the sounds of country music legend Willie Nelson.

"As a proud Texan, I wanted to be out there letting people know that I don’t take kindly to people trashing my great state," said Lt. Gen. Weber. "The amount of roadway litter we’re picking up comes at a great cost to Texans.

To have a successful QC/QA program, we need to recognize and understand how the system works. When QC/QA test results are used in the acceptance decision, testing disputes arising between TxDOT, or its designated agents, and the contractor shall be resolved in a reliable, unbiased manner by referee testing or evaluation performed by the Construction Division, Materials & Pavements Section (CST/M&P) central laboratory.
