IN THE WORKS
TXAPA is interested in photographs of member projects for marketing and promotional purposes for possible future literature, banner ups, advertising and so on. We have a fairly good collection of member work performed on state-maintained roadways(interstate, state highways, farm to market, etc.), but we do not have many pictures of work being performed by our members for cities, counties and private developers.

Thanks in advance for your help!

IN THE KNOW
The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association will be holding the 2012 Mid-Year Meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Our members had such a wonderful time in 2011 that we decided to go back and enjoy that nice cool weather in June.

The dates for the meeting are June 11-13, 2012. We have arranged to have a room block for the weekend before the meeting, June 8-10, for those of you who would like to arrive early. Please start making your hotel arrangements as early as possible; they are available now and the hotel does sell out rather quickly for the summer months.

The location and phone numbers are as follows:
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino
111 Country Club Drive
Incline Village, Nevada 89451
Phone: (775) 832-1234

The golf tournament will be held at the Championship Golf Course which is the larger course. Everyone had a wonderful time golfing at the Mountain Course last year so this year will be a real treat.

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone at Lake Tahoe in 2012!!

A new year has started and with it comes a new year for TXAPA’s educational and marketing efforts. I wanted to take this opportunity to help lay out what we already have planned for the 2012 calendar year.

Certification and re-certification classes are filling up fast. It is imperative to register as early as possible. You can find a current schedule on the Hot Mix Asphalt Center’s Web page located at www.txhmac.org.

Certified technicians must re-certify six months prior to their certification expiring. There is no grace period once the certification lapses. It is the responsibility of each certified technician to monitor your expiration date and schedule your re-certification. If you fail to re-certify within the six-month period, your certification will be revoked. Technicians with revoked certifications will be required to take the week-long training class in order to regain their certification.
