NAPA Releases Silica Competent Person Report

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Under the compliance obligations for construction activities under OSHA’s Silica Rule, each employer must designate and train at least one individual as a Competent Person (CP). To aid in understanding the obligation, NAPA has released "Designating a 'Competent Person' Under OSHA’s General Construction Standard and the Silica Rule" (Special Report 119). The guide provides an easy-to-understand overview of CP requirements, as well as links to training resources. Although federal enforcement of the Silica Rule was delayed until Sept. 23, some state OSHA agencies are currently enforcing the rule’s requirements as of June 23, the original compliance date.
