HMAC Proficiency Program Dates and Deadlines

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

We are once again approaching the dates for the Hot Mix Asphalt Center proficiency programs.  Beginning this year, the soils proficiencies will have the same dates and deadlines as the hot mix proficiency program.  If your certified technicians hold both soils and hot mix certifications, they will be required to perform both these tests.

The HMAC new website (www.txhmac.org) is fully functional, and each technician is required to go the website and update all of their information.  The following are dates and deadlines that need to be met by each technician.

  • November 1 – HMAC website will send out an e-mail to all certified technicians letting them know they need to update their information.
  • Go to the HMAC website and update all your information by November 15, 2010.
  • November 16, 2010 – HMAC sends the list to TxDOT
  • 1st Week in January – TxDOT mails samples to those technicians who updated their information by November 15.
  • Technicians have until February 28 to complete the sample and enter the results on the HMAC website.
  • March 1 - results are sent to TxDOT, along with a list of those who failed to turn in results.
  • The HMAC database will also send out an auto generated e-mail to TxDOT and Individual Technicians advising that their certifications are revoked for not performing sample tests and inputting results.
  • April 1 - TxDOT will send proficiency report in electronic form to HMAC to store in database.
  • After April 1 – Technicians are responsible for checking their rating on the website to make sure they did not receive a 2 or lower.
  • Those who received a 2 or lower must complete the electronic "Response to Low Rating" form on the website with a deadline of April 15 to respond.
  • April 15 – Those who fail to respond to the low rating notice are notified of revoked certification.

Anyone who currently holds any certification from the Hot Mix Asphalt Center is already considered a user on the website and should not sign up as a new user.  If you have any problems logging into the system, contact the Hot Mix Asphalt Center.

It is imperative that if you have any technicians that hold certifications in Level 1A, Soils SB 101 or Soils SB 201, that you notify them of these important dates.  If you have any questions, or for more information, please contact the Hot Mix Asphalt Center at (512) 312-2099.
