The American Chemistry Council’s Spray Foam Coalition (SFC), the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) and the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) have announced a cooperative effort aimed at developing innovative solutions to help prevent subterranean termites from entering homes. Together, the three organizations will foster ideas that marry both the benefits of spray foam insulation, including overall thermal efficiency and energy savings, with the need for pest management companies to visually inspect crawl spaces for subterranean termites throughout the home.

SPFA Courses and Certification
The SPFA PCP is pleased to report that the digital version of Exam Prep Study Guides are now included in the price of the written exam.  The QAP Committee, which oversees the policies of the PCP, voted recently to make this improvement to the program.  These ‘books’ are much more than Study Guides. They are great resources which are full of useful reference material. The printed version of the Study Guides will continue to be sold at the SPFA convention to help defray printing costs

Placing a bid is a slippery slope; bid too high and you price yourself out of reach, bid too low and leave yourself vulnerable in the event of a mishap which all too often leads to cutting corners, delays and having to go back to the client asking for more money. While word of mouth is such an effective tool in residential work, accuracy is as critical to longevity as the profits that sustain your business.

John Davidson is the VP of Operations at SprayWorks Equipment Group and is an SPFA PCP Certified Roofing and Insulation Installer. With over 25 years of experience in the spray foam and polyurea industry, John brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience.

SPF-Related Codes & Standards
ASTM International has, under the leadership of SPFA's Dr. Duncan, SPFA members and SPF industry professionals, announced the completion and approval of a new standard entitled Standard Practice for Installation of High-Pressure Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation for the Building Enclosure. This practice covers the installation of high-pressure spray polyurethane foam (SPF) as an insulation for building enclosure assemblies including: walls, ceilings, attics, floors and crawl spaces. This practice does not apply to SPF used strictly as a component for an air barrier system or for SPF used in roofing applications. The Standard can be purchased by ASTM here. If you have any questions please direct them to Dr. Duncan.
