Thanks to SPFA Technical Director Rick Duncan, spray polyurethane foam is the subject of quite a few articles in various industry publications. These articles are examples of how SPFA continually educates others about the benefits of SPF and promotes and invests in SPF's future. These articles are also excellent pieces for SPFA members to use for marketing purposes.

In the previous issue of SPRAYFOAM Professional (Winter 2015) results of research being conducted with open cell foam installation were introduced. Per ongoing research being performed by Gaco Western, self-compressing polyurethane foam technology - when used along with a pre-installed membrane - has equated to better air quality during open cell foam installations. Detailed occupational exposure results for both the sprayer and the helper, which resulted from this study, are outlined in this article. In May 2015, OSHA announced a new set of regulations for working in confined spaces on construction jobsites. These new regulations, which are based on the general industry regulations for confined spaces, will have an immediate impact for everyone working in areas such as attics and crawlspaces. After some delays, these new regulations are now being enforced. With help from a safety consultant, SPFA is now offering a four-part webinar series on construction confined spaces as a special edition of our members-only Foam-It-Right® safety webinar series: Part 1 is April 15!

Taking this one step further, you should know the different control layers in a building separation, the purpose of these control layers and the natural flow of liquid, air, moisture and heat around a building.

Any company that has at least one certified individual may use the SPFA PCP logo to promote both the program and their participation in the PCP. To participate is easy. Simply sign and return the attached PCP Logo Use Agreement to Kelly Marcavage at kmarcavage@sprayfoam.org and she’ll send you a logo to use. You’ll see in the terms of the agreement that our usage policy is clear: If a company is not in good standing with the PCP or does not have a certified individual, then the use of the logo is prohibited and SPFA will take the necessary actions to cease and desist the use of logo by anyone not authorized to use it.
