SCAPA members were part of a feature article in NAPA's July/August Issue of Asphalt Pavement  entitled "Not Just Pretty in Pink," about the Women of Asphalt and how the industry is embracing women in the field.
 
 
   
On Tuesday, June 25, 2019 asphalt industry professionals who attended the SCAPA SMA Training had the opportunity to learn more about the SMA mix design procedure, VCA testing, mix production, placement, compaction, quality control and troubleshooting of Stone Matrix Asphalt.
 
 
   
It was wonderful to see so many of our members at the SCAPA Summer Conference held in Charleston June 20-23, 2019. The Belmond Charleston provided a beautiful backdrop for our members to receive industry updates.

On May 10, 2019, King Asphalt, Inc. held its first Signing Day for youth apprenticeships at the Pickens County Career and Technology Center. Four students from local high schools were selected following interviews to participate in a summer paid apprenticeship to discover available careers in the asphalt industry.

Rubblization with an asphalt overlay is the recommended solution for rehabilitating old concrete pavements. Rubblization is the process of fracturing an existing Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP) into small, interconnected pieces that serve as a base course for a new hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay.
