SCAPA Members, registration is open for the SCAPA Spring Member Dinner and Legislative Day in Columbia, SC. The SCAPA Spring Member Dinner will be on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Hilton Columbia Center. SCAPA's Legislative Day will be the following day, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the State House followed by lunch at the Palmetto Club. Sponsorships are also available for the Spring Member Dinner. This event is for SCAPA Members only.
  
SCAPA Technical Director Kimberly Lyons, Ph.D. has been 'On The Road' a lot this month! She has been making site visits to our Producer Members, SCDOT offices, County offices and other industry partners. She also held a successful Asphalt Pavement Design Guide Webinar earlier this month. 
  
SCAPA Members, please Save the Date for the 2022 SCAPA Summer Conference. We are excited to be back at Charleston Place again this year in the beautiful city of Charleston. The conference will be June 24-26 for Members and June 23-26 for the Board of Directors. Registration and room block will open soon.

 
  
Partners in Quality (PIQ) is a partnership program between SCAPA's Producer Members and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), typically held annually in the winter. The program, which started in January, wrapped up on March 2 with SCDOT District 3 in Greenville, SC. 
SCAPA Associate Members: Consider providing a presentation for our new SCAPA Associate Member Training Series. This is a monthly program wherein one SCAPA Associate member will partner with SCAPA to organize a virtual educational event for SCAPA membership and industry partners. Please fill out the included form to submit your presentation request by April 1.

Description: This webinar educates civil and geotechnical engineers on the basics of asphalt. The webinar will discuss asphalt pavement material composition and will focus on the importance of asphalt binder, aggregates, and provide a high-level overview of mix design.

Description: Version 2 of NAPA’s Emerald Eco-Label EPD tool allows asphalt mix producers to develop and publish verified environmental product declarations (EPDs) that comply with Version 2 of the Product Category Rules (PCR) for Asphalt Mixtures. This webinar prepares participants to use the tool and develop their own EPDs.

Description: This TRB webinar will cover current practices for estimating the roughness of low-speed and urban roads as well as the challenges associated with collecting data. Presenters will review the calculations for determining IRI. They will cover the unique features of low-speed and urban roads that may yield inappropriate and misleading data. Presenters will offer both a short-term and long-term solution.
  
The 2022 SCDOT certification course schedule has been released. Online registration is available on TCTC's website at www.tctc.edu/scdot.
The site will have only one of each course type available for registration at a time, so not all of the sections will show as available. 
  
In the NCAT Balance Mix Design Resource Guide NCAT will cover the basics of Balance Mix Design (BMD), BMD approaches, BMD implementation, a summary of asphalt mixture performance tests and how to select the appropriate BMD.
