On May 18th, SCAPA hosted its 4th annual legislative day at the SC Statehouse. SCAPA members visited with members of the General Assembly to urge them to fix SC’s crumbling roads.

The morning began with briefing given by SC Alliance to Fix Our Roads Executive Director Bill Ross on the current status of road funding legislation in the General Assembly.

Following the briefing, SCAPA members were introduced in the House of Representatives by Representative Mike Anthony. Representative Anthony presented SCAPA members with a House Resolution celebrating SCAPA’s achievements over the past 50 years. Click here to view a copy of the House Resolution.

SCAPA members then met with members of the SC House of Representatives to discuss the importance of passing a road funding bill this year.

Next, SCAPA members heard a presentation from Ron Patton, Deputy Secretary for Intermodal Planning at SCDOT, on what the $2.2B Bonding Bill would mean for SCDOT and the State of South Carolina’s infrastructure system.

After lunch, SCAPA members heard from Senator Ray Cleary on the Senate’s plan for funding infrastructure.

The day ended with SCAPA members being introduced before the SC Senate. Senator Minority Leader Nikki Setzler presented SCAPA with a Senate Resolution highlighting the association’s 50th Anniversary. Click here to view a copy of the Senate Resolution.

The time to Fix Our Roads is now. Please contact your representative or senator and urge them to Fix Our Roads!
