SCDOT/SCAPA Partners in Quality - 2022 Season

District 2 PIQ
SCAPA Treasurer, Gene Sartain (Satterfield) at the Dist. 2 PIQ

The SCDOT/SCAPA Partners in Quality program kicked off this month in Greenwood for the District 2 meeting.  SCDOT District Construction Engineer (DCE) Mike Hannah presided over meeting, which was held at NW White's facility in Greenwood. DCE Hannah discussed common issues, as well as upcoming work for the year.  SCAPA's Jayson Jordan gave an update on the association, as well as upcoming industry initiatives. The group of DOT employees and contractors were then updated on recent specification changes by Cliff Selkinghaus, SCDOT's Asphalt Materials Manager.  Satterfield's Gene Sartain finished up the program with some words about best practices, as well as some items for the resident construction engineers in District 2 to be on the lookout for. Special thanks to NW White for allowing the group to use their facitlity.

Partners in Quality (PIQ), started in 2013, is a partnership program between SCAPA Members and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) typically held in the winter. SCAPA will co-host the seven Partner in Quality Meetings at the SCDOT district offices throughout the state. The contractor and agency attendees of each meeting learn about specification changes, best practices and district-specific case studies from the year prior.
