 Sanders Brothers Construction Co., Inc. has been in the Charleston, SC market since the early 1960s when two brothers, Jimmy and Elliot, started the business. Over the years, we have evolved in many areas. Presently we operate eleven separate divisions, which includes asphalt production and road building. As we have evolved, so has our mission statement.

                                                 

The Company’s entire leadership team worked together in 2015 to help define our identity in the market. We felt we helped shape the landscape of a growing metropolitan area over nearly 60 years. This is not the result of any one employee but a combination of our partnerships within our communities. That discussion led to “Together We Build Success.” This demonstrates success for our people, our customers and our communities.

                                                  
We have regularly demonstrated our commitment to local communities. This is seen not only through charitable giving and participation with large organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, but also through smaller, local organizations such as the Low Country Food Bank. These activities are preferably done without fanfare. 

                               

We pride ourselves in employee development and have partnered with the SC Department of Employment and Workforce to help in these efforts. In 2020, through this relationship, we were able to hire 10 on-the-job training participants to begin their careers in construction. One such participant, Panagiotis “Pete” Pietris, started out as a laborer in our plants. His enthusiasm regarding his future career in asphalt and his work ethic was quickly recognized. Pete has been promoted to lab technician and is working on his Level 1 DOT certification.

                                      

“Together We Build Success” is a great mission statement, but it is only as good as the folks that work to ensure we are supporting the mission. The employees of Sanders Brothers have demonstrated a history of contributing to their communities and the desire to succeed as long-standing employees.
